Nachstehend werden etwa in Originalgröße (abhängig von der
Bildschirmauflösung) Medaillen gezeigt, die sich auf
Mathematiker beziehen oder einen Bezug zur Mathematik aufweisen. Medaillen besitzen im
Gegensatz zu Münzen keinen Nennwert, ihre Fertigung ist keine Hoheitsaufgabe.
Durch Anklicken
des Abbilds einer einzelnen Medaille wird beim ersten Mal ein neues Browser-Fenster
geöffnet und die Medaille erscheint in dreifacher (linearer) Vergrößerung.
Die Medaillen werden alle im selben Browser-Fenster angezeigt, das allerdings nicht
automatisch im Vordergrund erscheint.
Weitere Beiträge zur vorliegenden Medaillensammlung sind
ausdrücklich erwünscht. Zu diesem Zweck wären beide Seiten der Medaillen
mit einer Auflösung von 300 dpi einzuscannen, verlustfrei zu speichern (bmp- bzw.
pcx-Format) und per Mail an den Autor

zu senden. Der Beitragende wird erwähnt und ein Verweis (Link) angelegt werden,
wenn dem nicht explizit widersprochen wird.

Die Medaille zeigt ein Porträt von Carl Friedrich Gauß,
sie wurde zu dessen 150. Geburtstag erstellt. Ein Exemplar ist im Niedersächsischen
Landesmuseum in Braunschweig ausgestellt.
The medal shows a portrait of Carl Friedrich Gauß. It was issued in occasion of his
150th birthday in 1927. The copy shown is exhibited in the Landesmuseum (State
Museum) of Lower Saxony in Brunswick.
Die Medaille zeigt ein Porträt von Johannes Kepler mit zwei
elliptischen Umlaufbahnen. Letztere muten recht fantastisch an. Die umlaufende Schrift
lautet:
MENSVS ERAM COELOS Johannes Kepler 1571 - 1630
Der lateinische Text ist der Beginn der von ihm selbst verfassten Grabinschrift
und kann mit: Die Himmel hatte ich gemessen übersetzt werden.
Die Grabinschrift wäre noch mit nun werde ich die Schatten der Erde messen.
Himmelwärts strebte der Geist, des Körpers Schatten ruht hier. zu ergänzen
(vergleiche auch
hier, die geringfügigen
textuellen Abweichungen gehen auf Anica Jahning zurück.). Die Rückseite der
Medaille ziert eine alte Stadtansicht von
Weil der Stadt, dem Geburtsort von J. Kepler,
mit Stadtmauer und der katholischen Kirche
St. Peter und Paul.
The medal shows a portrait of Johannes Kepler with two elliptic orbits. It also contains
the text

The Latin text states the beginning of the text for the epitaph which reads
like I used to measure the Heavens and continues with now I measure the shadows of
Earth. The mind belonged to Heaven, the body's shadow lies here. (cf.
here).
The reverse side shows an ancient view of the town
Weil der Stadt, which is the place of birth of
J. Kepler.

aufgeschlagenen Buch und den Text Adam Riese / Staffelstein / 1492 -
1992. Staffelstein ist der Geburtsort von A. Ries und 1492 das Geburtsjahr.

Adam-Ries-Museum in Annaberg zu sehen ist, sowie dem
