Der Weg zu der Höhle, in die sich der Legende nach Pythagoras vor den Nachstellungen des Tyrannen Polykrates zurückgezogen haben soll, ist sowohl vom Abzweig von der Küstenstraße bei Votsalakia wie auch von Marathokambos gut ausgeschildert. Die Sarandaskaliotissa-Höhle (siehe nachstehendes Bild) ist auf einem besfestigten Weg - teilweise als Treppe ausgearbeitet - gut zu erreichen. Vor dem Höhleneingang befindet sich eine kleine Kapelle. Eine weitere Kapelle ist etwa auf halber Höhe des Aufstiegs errichtet. Der Pfad zur Pythagoras-Höhle zweigt etwas unterhalb dieser Kapelle von dem befestigten Weg ab, ist mit roten Punkten markiert und nicht vergleichbar einfach zu bewältigen. Von der Straße, die am gegenüberliegenden Hang weiter verläuft, lässt sich das Ensemble gut betrachten (vergleiche die obige Aufnahme).

Der Tresen der Bar an der Straßenkehre unterhalb der Höhlen wartet mit nicht zu erwartenden Informationen zum Satz des Pythagoras, zur geographischen Lage von Samos und zur Zahlenmystik auf.

There is a cave in the Kerkis mountains where Pythagoras lived in the time when he was persecuted by the tyrant Polykrates. This is what legends tell. The routes to this cave are well provided with road signs from Votsalakia as well as from Marathokampos. The Sarandaskaliotissa cave (see the second image) may well be approached on a paved way combined with a staircase. In front of its entrance there is a small chapel. Another chapel is located approximately on the half way up. The narrow path to the Pythagoras cave branchs some steps below the latter mentioned chapel, is marked with red dots, and is much harder to master. From the road which continues on the other side of the valley one has a rather good view to the caves and chapels (see the most upper image).

At the road bend below the caves there is a bar which shows some surprising information on Pythagoras' theorem, the geographical situation of Samos, and mystics on numbers.
