Obergeschoss eine Gedenktafel zu
Dénis
Papin angebracht. Sie besitzt folgenden Wortlaut:
| Dénis Papin Prof[essor] d[er] Math[ematik] u[nd] Physik 1688 - 1695 ersann in diesem Hause die erste Dampfmaschine. |
D. Papin war im genannten Zeitraum Professor an der Philipps-Universität in Marburg.

Between the windows of the first upper storey of the house with address Markt 15
there is a plaque commemorating to
Dénis
Papin. It possesses the following inscription with golden letters:
| Dénis Papin professor for mathematics and physics 1688 - 1695 contrived the first steam-engine while staying in this house. |
It should be mentioned that the period 1688 - 1695 noted on the plaque is the one where D. Papin was professor at the university of Marburg.
