Mathematical purity in Berlin (Germany)

In der Eingangshalle des Hauptgebäudes der Technischen Universität Berlin (nahe dem Durchgang zum Audimax) befinden sich auf massiven Sockeln zwei Glocken verschiedener Größe. Sie unterscheiden sich ferner nur noch durch die Beschriftungen mit erhabenen Lettern "Rippe C'." sowie "R. 53-12" bei der großen (oben, erstes Bild) und "Rippe Es." sowie "R. 47-24" bei der kleinen Glocke (oben, zweites Bild). Die weiteren nachstehend wiedergegebenen Texte sind bei beiden Glocken identisch (vergleiche auch das Bild am Ende dieser Seite):

Der einzige Grund, dass diese Glocken in der Ausstellung 'Zeugnisse zu Mathematikern' gezeigt werden, ist der Umstand, dass von Mathematischer Reinheit die Rede ist. "Porentief rein" ist also doch noch zu toppen.

Inside but near the entrance of the main building of the Technical University of Berlin two bells are presented on solid bases. They contain some text which differ only in the terms declaring the tone pitches "C'" (for the big bell) and "Es" (for the small one). The remaining texts are identical and in the following translated to English:

The only reason why these bells are presented in the virtual exhibition 'Monuments on Mathematicians' is that the word purity is used with the attribute mathematical. Don't be confused by pure mathematics.
