Statues representing Giovanni Domenico Cassini, René Descartes und Joseph-Jérôme Lalande at the Louvre Museum in Paris (France)

Die Außenfassaden des Louvre sind mit lebensgroßen Statuen geschmückt, die bedeutende Persönlichkeiten darstellen. Unter anderem sind dort die Mathematiker Giovanni Domenico Cassini, René Descartes und Joseph-Jérôme Lalande vertreten. Während sich die Statue zu J.-J. Lalande die Hofseite des Nordflügels schmückt (Pavillon Colbert) befinden sich die Statuen zu G. D. Cassini und R. Descartes auf der Hofseite des Südflügels (Pavillon Daru). Es ist allerdings anzumerken, dass auf neuen Plänen des Louvre diese Pavillions nicht mehr genannt werden, sondern grob nur noch drei Trakte mit den Namen Denon, Richelieu und Sully assoziiert werden.

The outer faces of the Louvre Museum is equipped with statues representing prominent personages. Especially statues representing the mathematicians Giovanni Domenico Cassini, René Descartes und Joseph-Jérôme Lalande can be found. While the statue of J.-J. Lalande decorates the court sided face of the northern wing (Pavillon Colbert) these representing G. D. Cassini and R. Descartes are placed on the court sided façade of the southern wing (Pavillon Daru). But one needs to mention that in modern plans only roughly the three wings are associated with the names Denon, Richelieu, and Sully.
