Im Eingangsbereich des
Instituts für Mathematik der
Martin-Luther-Universität Halle-Wittenberg sind
zwei Tafeln mit Medaillons sowie im ersten Obergeschoss eine Büste zu verdienten
Mathematikern zu finden, die an besagter Universität wirkten. Die Büste stellt
Georg
Ferdinand Ludwig Philipp Cantor dar. Folgende Information ist dazu zu lesen:
Die Tafeln ehren die Mathematiker Karl Friedrich August Gutzmer und Friedrich Heinrich Albert Wangerin. Dabei sind beide Tafeln ähnlich gestaltet; sie zeigen ein eingearbeitetes Medaillon mit einem Porträt im Profil. Umlaufende Texte benennen ihre Namen sowie in einem Fall auch Geburts- und Todesjahr.
Die Tafel zu A. Gutzmer zeigt außrdem noch folgende Inschrift:
Mit dem Schlagwort Leopoldina ist die Deutsche Akademie der Naturforscher Leopoldina gemeint, die ihren Sitz ebenfalls in Halle besitzt.

there are two plaques with medallions and in the first upper floor also a bust honouring
famed mathematicians who worked at this university. The bust represents

The plaques honour the mathematicians Karl Friedrich August Gutzmer and Friedrich Heinrich Albert Wangerin. Both plaques are almost identically designed. They possess inlaid medallions with portraits. Engraved texts shows their names and in one case also the years of life.
In addition the plaque for A. Gutzmer possesses a text which reads like:
With the word Leopoldina the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina is meant which is established also in the city of Halle.
