Am Geschäftshaus mit der postalischen Adresse Kupfergraben 4A,
10117 Berlin, gegenüber vom Pergamonmuseum ist seit dem 6. April 2014 eine
Gedenktafel für den norwegischen Mathematiker
Niels
Henrik Abel angebracht.
Ein Porträt dominiert das Erscheinungsbild dieser Gedenktafel. Dieses Porträt diente auch als Vorlage für eine Briefmarke eines zweiwertigen Satzes, der zum 200. Geburtstag von N. H. Abel von der norwegischen Post herausgegeben wurde. Gleiches gilt auch für eine frühere norwegische Banknote. Über dem Porträt sind das Datum der Enthüllung dieser Gedenktafel und die Organisationen, auf deren Initiative die Tafel entstand, angegeben - die Internationalen Mathematischen Union (IMU) und die Norwegische Akademie der Wissenschaften:
Unter dem Porträt zeigt die Gedenktafel eine Inschrift in deutscher und norwegischer Sprache, die hier vollständig wiedergegeben werden soll:

Die Gedenktafel wurde von der Künstlerin Erika Klagge entworfen.
Am 6. April 2014 fand unter Anwesenheit des norwegischen Botschafters die feierliche Enthüllung der Gedenktafel statt. Weiter unten von dieser Zeremonie wiedergegeben.

At the business building with address Kupfergraben 4A, 10117 Berlin opposite
to the Pergamon Museum there is a commemorative plaque for the Norwegian mathematician
Niels
Henrik Abel, which was unveiled on April 6th, 2014.
A portrait of the personage takes the major space of the plaque. This portrait also served for the design of a stamp from a set which was issued by the Norwegian post authority in occasion of the 200th birthday of N. H. Abel. The same holds for a former banknote. Above the portrait the date of unveiling of this plaque together with the names of the two organizations are provided which initiated the project for this plaque - namely the International Mathematical Union (IMU) and the Norwegian Akademy of Sciences:

The memorial plaque was designed by the artist Erika Klagge.
On April 6th, 2014 the unveiling of the plaque took place in the presence of the Norwegian ambassador. Above, between the German and the English description shown.
